STYLE IN THE SNOW

This look was inspired by this shearling vest from TopShop.  My best friend gave it to me for my birthday (she has AMAZING taste) and I've been itching to wear it.

For this outfit I wanted me vest to be the center of attention so I didn't want to overpower it with too much color or pattern.  My white sweater is from Forever 21 and it was an absolute steal on sale for $13!  My blue waisted jeans from Urban Outfitters break up the whole black and white thing I had going on, but this would look great with black jeans too! And although there is snow on the ground, I thought I would go a different route, away from boots for a day, with my dark grey oxfords from...wait for it...PAYLESS. Yes. You read that right. They are by Christian Siriano for Payless and I am in love with them.  The Project Runway alum makes some ridiculously cute stuff!  Of course jewelry is a must so I wore my statement Michael Kors rose gold watch - and if you read my last OOTD post you'll know it's actually a men's watch! This chunky gold chain necklace adds just the perfect about of edge and glam to almost any outfit.

So I'm kind of obsessed with award shows. I didn't even want to eat my dinner last night because I was staring at the TV trying to watch the Red Carpet from around the corner in my kitchen. The sacrifice was worth it.
Each year the red carpet brings some seriously questionable decisions, but the highlight of the night is the beautiful gowns and handsome men in suits. Here are some of my favorite looks from last nights Oscars.

CASUAL CHIC

So it’s pretty hard to roll out of bed in the morning when it’s -5º outside, but when I need to brave the weather and still want to look presentable, here’s what I throw together:

One of my cardinal rules of style is spend money where it matters. For me, I wear cardigans often and I beat the living crap out of them so I don’t mind being a little cheap with something that is going to end up ragged. But a girl needs a good leather handbag and Marc Jacobs does not disappoint. This bag is two seasons old already and it’s classic snake skin exterior has made it through my daily wear and tear.

You can make any outfit look good with a find from Marshall’s. These Report booties were maybeee $30 (also old) and they are my go-to in a crunch. Pair it with a giant Michael Kors watch (it’s actually men’s) and you’re outfit is golden, or rose gold in this case!

These sunglasses are totally a knock off of these Kate Spade sunglasses that I’ve been spotting recently. They are super affordable and have lasted me since I bought them two years ago. Funny enough, I always get compliments on them and my scarf from Forever 21, which should be every girl’s home for staples in their wardrobe. Now, they are not usually the best quality, but this scarf is phenomenal and probably better than the ones I’ve gotten from boutiques. If you know what you’re looking at, you may have a few great finds in stores like this and Old Navy, just be a savvy shopper like me! Throw a long coat over it all to brave the cold and you're good to go!
